I am also not afraid of tinkering with Windows Registry, but I have little clue how you can enable the setting in the Lenovo ACPI driver from there. If there's a way to force the installation of the Vantage toolbar (which I believe was not installed because I unchecked the box the first time I run Vantage), I will try it. So what can be done to reenable the setting for battery preservation (charging only up to 50-60%)? Arguably it was not a clean reinstall, I uninstalled from the Start Menu, allowing any leftovers to stay, and installed again from the Store. I tried to do a reinstall of the Vantage program but it behaves the same way. Turning the switch for the toolbar to "ON" does nothing. If I change the page in the Vantage program and go back to the page with the setting for the toolbar, it's off. After I got to the program, every time I try to enable the toolbar, the switch stays in the "ON" position only for as long as I stay on the page with the setting. I unchecked the toolbar and checked the statistics. After I opened the program and the installation was complete I got a notice with two checkboxes: one for enabling the toolbar/taskbar/whatever you call it (I am using a Polish version of Windows and don't know what is the name used in the English version), and the other one for anonymous statistics. I installed the new Lenovo Vantage from Microsoft Store. But after the switch to and from the transportation mode that I did yesterday, it got a reset and it's charging to 100% when plugged in.
The battery kept its settings even when booting from USB into Linux Live images. Vantage later (about a year ago) got some major issues and basically all of the hardware controller switches stopped working, so I uninstalled it, preserving the System Interface Foundation driver and the Lenovo ACPI driver. I guess the switch to transportation mode reset the hardware settings, because before I did it, the batttery was always charging to 50-60%, as I have set it up a long time ago using Lenovo Vantage. Yesterday I had to switch battery to transportation mode (Fn+S+V) to dissasemble the laptop for maintenance. I have Lenovo Ideapad 310-15ikb with Windinstalled and updated.
